One of teak’s best qualities is how easy it is to restore.
With the right tools and know-how you can give the glow back to tired-looking teak, even if it’s from the last millennium.
Here’s how to properly clean teak furniture.
Use the Right Tools
Despite what some people think, you don’t need a high-powered hose and other expensive equipment to clean teak.
All you need is:
-A bucket of warm water
-Soap or detergent
-A soft bristle brush
-A garden hose
-Gloves
-Towel
-Bleach (if there’s a very bad stain)
How to Clean Your Teak So it Looks Brand New
It’s a two-step process: clean it, then stain it.
Clear the area around your teak furniture before you start. Make sure to give yourself plenty of room.
Next, put some of the detergent or soap in the bucket of warm water. If there’s a particularly bad stain, you can add a little bleach as well.
Put your gloves on, dip the brush into the soapy water, and gently scrub the teak.
If your water gets dirty, replace it.
When you’ve scrubbed everything down, rinse it off with a gentle stream from the garden hose and use a towel to dry it.
Once the furniture is completely dry, stain the teak evenly and leave it out in the sun.
The sun will dry your teak for you and voila! It will be like new.
